Behind Xtremeplus is a well-coordinated team of experienced motorsport professionals led by Marco Piana, bringing extensive expertise in international cross-country rally racing.

Marco Piana was born on January 31, 1967, in Lecco, Italy, and now lives in Grendelbruch, France. His passion for motorsport began at an early age. At 13, he competed in his first motocross event on a Fantic. Although he was initially drawn mainly to motorcycle racing, he soon discovered karting as well. At the age of 18, he attended the FIA racing school in Italy and ultimately made the permanent switch to four wheels for competition. Until the age of 22, Piana mainly competed on race circuits, including in Formula 3.

Through his former Formula 3 colleague and friend Giacomo Vismara, Marco Piana became closely involved with the Dakar Rally for the first time. Vismara took him to the Dakar prologue in France, where Marco supported him. In 1998, Giacomo finally convinced him to purchase a truck and become involved in supporting motorcycle riders at rally events.

What began as a passion increasingly became a profession. In 2004, Marco Piana founded the Xtremeplus racing team and initially specialized in providing on-course support to competitors with a T4 racing truck. The partnership with Polaris, which continues to shape the team to this day, began as early as 2005. Xtremeplus first entered a quad team in the Rallye du Maroc and then prepared for the 2008 Dakar Rally, which was unfortunately cancelled at short notice.

When the Dakar Rally was held in South America for the first time in 2009, Xtremeplus entered four quads. Three of them reached the finish line, including Betty Kraft, who also won the women's classification. In 2010 and 2011, the team competed in the Dakar together with Christophe Declerck.

A decisive chapter in the history of Xtremeplus began in 2011 with the Polaris RZR 900 XP40. Thierry Magnaldi entered the buggy for the first time in the Silk Way Rally and finished 29th overall.

In January 2012, Willy Alcaraz took on the Dakar Rally with Xtremeplus. Driving the Polaris RZR 900 XP40, he crossed the finish line in 42nd place while also securing victory in the T3 class and the solo classification. Just one year later, Alcaraz returned to take on the challenge once again on his own. At the wheel of the Polaris XT+, he finished 40th overall in the 2013 Dakar and successfully defended his victories in both the T3 class and the solo classification.

Over the years, the collaboration with Polaris, which began in 2005, developed into a close partnership. The Polaris name remains closely linked to the vehicles and sporting success of Xtremeplus to this day, which is why the buggy is known by its full name: RZR Turbo Polaris XT+.

Since 2012, the Xtreme Plus Factory Team has achieved six Dakar victories and five FIA World Championship titles in the T3 class. These successes have earned the team an international reputation and made Xtremeplus synonymous with extensive expertise, high quality and meticulous vehicle preparation.

At the heart of it all remains Marco Piana. With more than 20 years of experience as a team manager, he is the heart and soul of Xtremeplus. He is supported by a professional team of mechanics and logistics specialists. During races, the vehicles receive intensive support and are maintained with the utmost care. At the same time, comprehensive logistics involving trucks and support vehicles ensure that the bivouac can be fully set up even in the most remote locations.

The aim is to provide drivers with the most professional all-round package possible. With a robust and durable vehicle such as the Polaris PRO R, prepared for off-road use and equipped with all necessary FIA safety features, participants can focus entirely on the race. From the first day to the last, one thing remains the top priority: enjoying the adventure and reaching the finish line.

Since 2020, Xtremeplus has also been partnered with EMKA. As a sponsoring partner, EMKA supports the successful rally team with lubricants specifically developed for extreme loads and demanding conditions. Among the products that have proven themselves in continuous use is the fully synthetic high-performance engine oil EMKA Race Power 20W60. It was developed specifically for motorsport and the extreme demands of endurance and hill-climb racing.

It is complemented by the fully synthetic high-performance transmission oil EMKA Syntogear FDS 75W140, specifically designed for use under extreme conditions. The high-performance lubrication technology from EMKA and Xtremeplus' many years of technical expertise therefore form a powerful combination for the most demanding motorsport applications.

Even away from the racetrack, the Polaris buggy regularly attracts plenty of attention. At events and exhibitions, this exceptional vehicle is a popular highlight and, thanks to its unmistakable off-road look and the fascination surrounding rallies such as the Dakar, is often used as a popular photo opportunity at EMKA exhibition stands.
